103 Battalion Reme

103 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) is a Territorial Army Unit based across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire. We also have a Company in Northampton. The Battalion consists of the Headquarters Company, two Workshop Company's and two Recovery Company's, it is rolled to maintain, repair, modify and recover nearly all the Army's mechanical and electrical equipment.

For many years the Territorial Army was regarded as the Reserve of last resort, a force to be called upon only when the nations back was against the wall. Today, it is the Reserve of first choice, an integral part of Britain's land forces, using much of the same equipment, operating to the same standards and providing indispensable support to the Regular Army. As a trained Territorial Army Soldier you may be deployed overseas on an Operation Deployment in support of the Regular Army and its mission.

As a Territorial Army Soldier you will be required to train one night a week, some weekends and a two week annual deployment exercise. The Units train every Tuesday evening from 8-10pm (except 118 Recovery Company, Northampton which meets on a Wednesday evening), during these "drill nights" the Soldiers engage in trade, military and physical training or prepare for deployment exercises. Annual deployment and weekend training is challenging, varied and rewarding. Annual deployment exercises have also given people the opportunity to visit places as far as Canada, USA, Belize, Kenya, The Falkland Islands and closer to home such as Germany, Gibraltar and Jersey.

Training Opportunities - The Battalion provides a full range of military, adventurous and technical training
