The Territorial Army is no longer a
force used solely to protect the nation in time of invasion, it is
now an integral and important part of the United Kingdom's Land
Forces, it supports the Regular Army in all Operational Theatre as
well as home.
What is required from a TA Soldier? Most
importantly is commitment. The minimum yearly training requirement is:
- Attend a 15 day Annual Deployment Exercise or trade related course.
- Undertake 6 full 2 day weekend training exercises.
- Regularly attend Tuesday night training sessions (drill nights).
- Qualify as a trained soldier by passing annual training tests.
What does the TA Soldier get from the TA?
- Paid: You receive pay for all formal training and on passing all tests a tax free bounty up to £1550 annually.
- Training: Military training builds confidence and strength of character, other training such as First Aid have real value in every day life.
- Comradeship: You will meet other like minded people with whom you will form real bonds as you progress through your training.
- Opportunities: You will be given the chance to travel to many other parts of the globe, take part in adventurous training such as skydiving, skiing, sailing all at a much reduced cost. In essence you will broaden your horizons and we can all benefit from that!
