As
a member of the TA you will be liable for compulsory mobilisation and
many members of the Battalion have served overseas in support of the
Regular Army and have deployed to all operational theatre's.
Deployments usually last 10 months, with pre-deployment training, 6
months spent in theatre followed by about 40 days post operational
tour leave. If you are called up for deployment your job and income
are protected under UK law. Your family will be able to call a member
of the Battalion 24 hours a day if they require help or assistance.
They will also be periodically contacted by the unit to ensure that
they are well and have no issues caused by your absence.
Iraq
– The Battalion has had soldiers periodically deployed in Iraq
since the original invasion. UK forces in Iraq are a part of the
United-States-led Multi-National Force – Iraq.

Afghanistan
– Members of the Battalion
have recently been deployed and are presently deployed to Afghanistan
in support of the NATO led mission. UK forces are in Afghanistan at
the invitation of the democratically elected Afghan Government and
with UN authorisation, to provide the secure environment necessary
for reconstruction and development to take place.

The
Balkans – Members of the Battalion have been deployed to the
both theatres in the Balkans, Bosnia and Kosovo.
Bosnia
- In December 2006 EU ministers agreed, in principle, that the
situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina was sufficiently stable to begin
restructuring EUFOR, and the Armed Forces Minister, Adam Ingam,
announced the withdrawal of the UK battlegroup on the 1 March
2007.
Kosovo – As the country became more stable and
a multi-national force structure was established in Kosovo, with
British troops deployed in and around the city of Pristina. Their
mission was and still is to establish and maintain a secure
environment and to promote peace and stability in the country.
