Regimental Headquarters

Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) is where the regiment is managed from. Since SDR, RHQ moved to Luton TA Centre co-located with 201Battery. RHQ essentially manages the training, administration, pay and liaises with the Regular Army for both operational andtraining reasons. Based at RHQ are the following personalities:


Commanding Officer

Lieutenant Colonel Simon West was born in 1964 and educated at Epsom College and Royal Holloway College, University of Londonwhere he gained a BSc(Hons) in Zoology.  He is a graduate ofthe Army Command and Staff Course.

In 1986 after Sandhurst and Larkhill training, his service started in Germany with 4th Regiment RA where he was a Gun Position Officer of an M109 Battery.  After a tour as ADC to GOC Western District he moved in 1990 to 3RHA in Colchester as a Forward Observation Officer and Battery Captain completing tours in Belize and Northern Ireland.  From here he was posted to1 RHA in Tidworth as Adjutant.  In 1995 he attended Division II at the Royal Military College of Science followed in 1996 bythe last Army Command and Staff Course at Camberley.  His Black Bag job took him to Operational Requirements in Main Building where he was responsible for artillery guns and ammunition.

In December 1999 he re-formed 129 (Dragon) Battery Royal Artillery and completed 2 years in command.   With AS90 and WARRIOR, the battery deployed to BATUS in support of the Lead Recce Task Force and to Bosnia where the Battery notably closed the Sanski Most site.  Post-command he spent a year at HQDRA as SO2 Policy being the RA focus for Future Army Structuresstudies.

In Jan 03 on promotion to Lieutenant Colonel he assumed the post of DS Depth Fire and Long Range STA at the Royal Military College of Science.  In December 2005 he assumed command of100 (Yeomanry) Regiment RA.

Adjutant

Captain Mabbott joined the Army in1994 and attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. On commissioning into the Royal Artillery he moved to Germany where he served with 4th Regiment Royal Artillery and has subsequently completed tours with The Royal Military College ofScience at Shrivenham, The Army Foundation College at Harrogate,7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery in Colchester and100 Regiment RA (V) in Luton where he now works as the Adjutant.
 
Capt Mabbott has served on Operations in Bosnia and more recently in Afghanistan in 2006 as the Battle space manager for 9 Army Air Corps in Camp Bastion, Helmand Province.  He has also exercised in such far flung places as Kazakhstan, the Oman,Canada, France, Germany and the USA.
 
Capt Mabbott is a qualified Forward Observer, Forward Air Controller and Close Combat Attack Controller.
 
He enjoys cross country running and skiing

Regimental Sergeant Major

Warrant Officer Class 1 Regimental Sergeant Major PWJLittler

The RSM joined the army in 1987 at Woolwich Training Depot. He has served with 40 Regiment RA, 17 Training Regiment, 14 RegimentRA, 4 Regiment RA and 100 Regiment RA (V).

He has deployed on operations to Bosnia, Iraq and Saudi Arabia also deploying on numerous exercises such as, Canada, Germany,Saudi Arabia, Italy, Kenya and Belgium.

RSM Littler has throughout his career worked on the guns also conducting reconnaissance and logistics.

He enjoys canoeing, running and cycling.

He is married with 5 children
