WHO releases a new fact sheet basing on HIV drug resistance survey findings. The World Health Day 2011 highlights the need to "Combat Drug Resistance" in improving access to treatment for diseases such as HIV. Antiretroviral treatment for HIV has been rapidly scaled up in developing countries in the past decade without major emergence of drug resistance. However, WHO recommends a minimum-resource strategy for prevention and assessment of HIV drug resistance for resource-limited countries.
