National Accessible Scheme

If you have particular mobility, visual or hearing needs, look out for our National Accessible Scheme. You can be confident of finding accommodation that meets your needs by looking for the following symbols. Properties displaying these symbols will have met the National Accessible Scheme criteria. 


M1

Typically suitable for guests with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps, but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance.


M2

Typically suitable for guests with restricted walking ability and for those that may need to use a wheelchair some of the time, and who can negotiate a maximum of three steps.


m3 independent

Typically suitable for guests who depend on the use of a wheelchair, but transfer unaided to and from the wheelchair in a seated position.  This person may be an independent traveller.


m3 assisted

Typically suitable for guests who depend on the use of a wheelchair in a seated position.  This person also requires personal/mechanical assistance (e.g. carer, hoist)


Exceptional m3 independent

Access Exceptional – Achieves the standards for independent wheelchair users and fulfils additional, more demanding requirements providing for several levels of mobility impairment (listed above) and with reference to the British Standard BS 8300:2001. 


Exceptional m3 assisted

Access Exceptional – Achieves the standards for either independent wheelchair users or assisted wheelchair users and fulfils additional, more demanding requirements providing for several levels of mobility impairment (listed above) and with reference to the British Standard BS 8300:2001

Typically provides key additional services and facilities to meet the needs of visually impaired guests.

Typically provides a higher level of additional services and facilities to meet the needs of guests with visual impairment.

 


H1


Typically provides key additional services and facilities to meet the needs of hearing impaired guests.

 


H2


Typically provides a higher level of additional services and facilities to meet the needs of hearing impaired guests.
