Innovation & Partnership: The Role of Social Entrepreneurs in an Ageing Society

Following a series of successful programmes both for and by older people, UnLtd is holding a conference to explore the opportunities that social entrepreneurship offers the age sector.
Celebrating the achievements of our Award Winners, the event will discuss how the many different organisations operating in the age economy can work effectively with social entrepreneurs to promote and nurture new solutions to ageing issues.

Older Social Entrepreneurs: untapped creators of positive change
Our ageing society faces many challenges. However, with 28.4 million people predicted to be over 50 by 2033, there is also a growing wealth of untapped potential offered by this age group.
UnLtd has launched the fourth paper in its Findings Series, focusing on our learning from social entrepreneurs aged 50 and over. Our findings show the personal benefit experienced by the social entrepreneur as well as the social and economic impact their ventures create.

UnLtd and HEFCE launch new HEI support initiative
Following the success of the Higher Education Social Entrepreneurship (HE SE) Awards, the first collaboration between UnLtd and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), a new initiative has been launched to provide Higher Education Insitutions (HEIs) with the necessary support, resources and knowledge to embed social entrepreneurship within England-based universities and colleges.
UnLtd will work with the HEIs over an 18 month period to develop their support structures, as well as private sector support from UnLtd Connect

The competition is calling for nominations about inspirational social entrepreneurs who are running a project making positive impact on the world around them by tackling or helping to reduce one or more social problems. It could be a person who runs an educational club, which takes young people off the streets or someone helping to provide local healthy food for the community by running communal gardens.
The winner of the competition will be featured in an interview in the Sunday Times newspaper and be showcased in a special episode of UK360 on Community Channel, as well as receiving advice from communications professionals at the Sunday Times and be given a grant of £500 to further their work through digital media.

Voice relaunches as Social Enterprise Exchange
Voice has been relaunched as the Social Enterprise Exchange. The event is set to take place on Tuesday 27th March at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow.
The Social Enterprise Exchange is the world's biggest social enterprise event for those running and interested in social enterprise. The event will bring together more than 1,000 delegates who can look forward to a lively trade fair and top class networking opportunities.
