Norfolk record label bites in export success
Following a UKTI funded visit to Los Angeles, Hungry Audio founder, Adrian Cooke experienced a taste for the US music market and real desire to expand his company into this previously unchartered territory.
This led him to sign up to UKTI’s Overseas Introduction Service (OMIS) to investigate the market further. Supported by John Marshall, UKTI International Trade Advisor, Adrian and his team identified appropriate music companies to target on their next visit to the US in November 2009. This resulted in monumental success for the Norfolk record label.
“With UKTI support and advice from John we were able to target the right companies with our music and also gain a good understanding of the US market,” says Adrian. “After an intense week of presentations and meetings with music companies we finally got what we were looking for.”
Two of the songs on Adrian’s record label were placed in major US TV shows, One Tree Hill and True Blood.
“Having worked on the label for over five years we’ve never had this sort of success before,” continues Adrian. “The songs, featured in these shows, will hit UK screens at the end of the year and we’re hopeful that this exposure will have a positive impact on our sales both here and abroad. The support we’ve received from UKTI in entering this market has been very rewarding.”
Adrian is using further UKTI support to deliver Norwich Sound & Vision, which is an annual music & multi-media convention taking place for the first time between 16th and 18th September 2010 in Norwich. The event will comprise a 3 day conference featuring expert speakers from the music, film, TV and games industries and a series of gigs, film screenings, and other interactive performances.
“Hungry Audio has demonstrated how successful companies can be with an excellent product and sound understanding of the market they are trying to break. I’m delighted that UKTI has been able to help Adrian and his team on this exciting journey,” says John Marshall.
