HRH The Duke of York visits Singapore (October 2009)

HRH The Duke of York met Singapore’s President S.R. Nathan, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and representatives of Singapore's Sovereign Wealth Funds during a visit in October this year.

It was his first stop on a three-country visit to South East Asia, taking in Vietnam and Thailand.

The Duke presented the inaugural UKTI Award for Innovation at the British Chamber of Commerce's annual British Business Awards to joint winners Dortek and Rolls Royce. The award recognises an organisation that has made a significant contribution towards strengthening the UK's excellent reputation in innovation and creativity.

During his visit, he participated in the Global Security Challenge Asia finals and opened a UKTI British Water Seminar.

The Duke attended the anniversary meeting of the local chapter of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and saw for himself British expertise at work in significant and important Singapore developments such as the Marina Barrage and the Gardens By The Bay.

He also witnessed the signing of a Research Collaboration Agreement for Neuroscience Research between the University of Warwick of the UK and the Nanyang Technological University.
