HRH The Duke of York addressing guests at the SBBC (Singapore British Business Council) dinner, St James's Palace, 3 September
HRH The Duke of York KG Hosts Singapore British Business Council
HRH The Duke of York KG hosted a dinner in honour of the 18th plenary meeting of the Singapore British Business Council (SBBC) at St James's Palace on 3 September 2009.
The SBBC is a bilateral business council seeking to develop and foster business linkages between Singapore and the UK. Approximately 110 senior guests attended the dinner including Lord Malloch Brown, Lord Powell of Bayswater, Sir Andrew Cahn and Dr Lee Boon Yang, former Singaporean Minister and Chairman of the Keppel Corporation. Sir Mark Moody-Stuart and Dr Albert Hong OBE, Joint SBBC Co-Chairmen, were also present along with Diplomatic dignitaries led by Dr Michael Teo, the Singporean High Commissioner.
The SBBC programme in London also included a UKTI organised SBBC Business Forum focussing on collaborative infrastructure opportunities, specifically in water and construction. The forum attracted over 80 delegates representing UK and Singaporean companies including major players such as Arup, Balfour Beatty and Keppel Corporation. This successful event also attracted over 30 UK based SMEs interested in finding out more about possible projects in Singapore or elsewhere, working with Singaporean partners. Early feedback from the Forum has been extremely positive, with some companies pursuing contacts made or specifically taking forward projects for joint collaboration.
