A full day workshop intended to provide an introduction to UK export control. The course goes into more detail than the Beginners Course and is therefore recommended for those with some basic knowledge. The course will cover:
Export Control Lists
Guidance on licensing technology
Trade and Brokering services controls
End-Use Controls Licence Types and the Licensing Process
Compliance
Breaching export controls can result in goods seizures made by Customs, logistical problems or contractual penalties. Ultimately you could be fined or even prosecuted with a maximum sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment.
The Export Control Organisation, part of the Department for Business, is the UK’s regulatory authority responsible for licensing so-called “strategic” items for export purposes. This includes not only military goods, but also a wide range of dual-use goods (civilian goods with a military use) including the export of technology over the internet or technical assistance overseas.
