Skills for Health is the Sector Skills Council that represents the whole of the UK health sector:
National Health Services;
independent healthcare; and
voluntary & community organisations.
Sector Brief
The sector is largely publicly funded and for the most part, health care is publicly provided, although the independent sector performs a critical and growing role.
The sector has a very high proportion of professionally qualified staff, many with highly evolved education and training systems, often with a great weight of history behind them.
The health sector is the second largest purchaser of higher education in the UK.
Health is a large and complex sector of the economy with a wide range of both employers and occupations.
