They will visit Somerset House for an official welcome from John and Frances Sorrell, receive their membership packs and take part in a pop-up exhibition of their self-portraits. The groups will also visit some of the capital's best museums and galleries including the Courtauld Gallery, the V&A, Tate Modern, the Saatchi Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.

SUMMER 2011
National Art&Design Saturday Club Summer Show at Somerset House
Visited by over 3,500 people, this unique exhibition spotlighted the potential of more than 400 young people aged 14–16, and showcased their exciting new work in disciplines that range from drawing, painting and sculpture to photography, printmaking, ceramics and digital graphics.
Rt. Hon. Ed Vaizey meeting Club members
For the past year, 14 colleges and universities of art and design around the country have opened their doors every Saturday morning to nurture young talent from more than 100 local schools.
The free programme includes expert creative tuition, a visit to London and a Masterclass from a world-class
designer or artist. This Summer Show, now in its second year, was the inspirational result.

The Sorrell Foundation hosted two private views for the Summer Show, one for all the young people, their tutors, families and friends, and another formal reception opened by the Rt. Hon. Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries.
"This idea of giving young people an opportunity to experience college life
on a Saturday morning is brilliant,
and I would love to apply the idea to many other subjects."
Rt. Hon. Ed Vaizey
Looking ahead, our ambition is to scale up the programme each year – in 2011–2012 there will be 20 colleges and universities taking part.
