HMS Scotia

Situated within HMS Caledonia at Rosyth, HMS Scotia inhabits spacious, modern accommodation with excellent facilities, which is close to the Rosyth Royal Dockyard and just off the motorway linking Edinburgh and Dundee. Because of Scotia's close relationship with HMS Caledonia it shares modern facilities both working/training and recreational.

Scotia is one of the largest RNR Units in the country, with strength of 40 Officers and 100 ratings. The Scotia catchment area is basically the entire East Coast of Scotland, which draws its recruits from all backgrounds from the financial, academic, light and heavy industries through to the service sector. The catchment area also includes seven Universities and many colleges that make a rich pool for the recruitment of lively young people and a strong cadre of potential Officers. This pool of recruits, combined with two strong naval recruiting grounds in Edinburgh and Dundee, gives Scotia a particularly strong edge in manpower within the RNR.

As befits one of the largest units, Scotia offers a wide range of training to all specialisation's in support of the RN, and personnel are regularly found on annual training and Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS) in around the world. The unit has a lively social life and also plays a prominent part in the local community, and in high profile events, for example mounting a guard in Edinburgh for Remembrance Sunday and holding a Service of Remembrance aboard the frigate Unicorn in Dundee.

Scotia supports many charitable events throughout the year and regularly raises thousands of pounds in support of Macmillan Cancer Research.

Scotia also has a satellite unit in the form of Tay Division based in Dundee.
