Reflecting this task as their core role, the RFA's current flotilla of 16 ships which contains twelve tankers and stores ships. The newest additions to the flotilla are Largs Bay and Mounts Bay, which are Landing Ships Dock (Auxiliary) or LSD(A)'s. These ships use the latest diesel-electric propulsion and dynamic positioning systems.
