RNAS Culdrose

A group of Royal Naval aircrew from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose have just returned from the Scilly Isles where they have been assisting the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust to clean beaches around the islands.

Four members of 771 Naval Air Squadron at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose have been awarded the  Edward and Maisie Lewis Award for their bravery and professionalism.

Over the past twelve months energy consumption at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose has been cut by 10% and energy conservation managers aim to reduce consumption by a further 10% in the coming year in line with the Prime Minister’s recent challenge to government departments to be more energy efficient.

The summer period not only drew many crowds to Cornwall, but brought about several interesting jobs for the Search and Rescue crews of 771 Naval Air Squadron, based at RNAS Culdrose.  In August alone, a total of 34 rescues were conducted - the busiest month of the year. 

The final preparations are being made for the 2010 RNAS Culdrose Air Day (Wednesday 28th July). With the ‘Vulcan’ making a rare appearance, thrilling flying displays, an action packed military arena and a chance to get up close with the world of Naval Aviation, organisers hope that the public will experience ‘Fly Navy’ whatever the weather.

Members of 820 Naval Air Squadron recently gave some of their time to help prepare the Public Viewing Area at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose for the 2010 season.
