PEG was a two year UK Government Invest To Save project called Promoting Electronic Government. PEG is also the set of results from that project that are now available from this web-site, including a self-assessment methodology that has been used by a wide range of English local authorities since the project began in April 2000.
The aim of the PEG project was to support local government modernisation through more citizen-focused services using electronically-enabled delivery channels.
PEG involved the private sector as well as local
government and drew on the experience of pioneering authorities that
have demonstrated the opportunities for continuous service
improvement within the context of best value. PEG provides mechanisms for gathering, assessing and disseminating best practice and practical support. The lessons learned are now being linked into central government policy initiatives such as Local Government On-Line (LGOL).
This website acts as the publishing site for the project's
materials and includes versions developed since the project ended in
2002. It is also a noticeboard for PEG events and carries a database
of good practice case studies which is updated from time to
time.
The next PEG event is the EIP Conference 2004.
