On 19 April, Coalition forces took control in northern Iraq of a specialised military trailer. US and UK technical experts have examined the trailer and have concluded that it appears to have been designed as a mobile production facility for microbal agents. There are many similarities between the physical characteristics of the trailer and intelligence reports of mobile facilities used by Saddam Hussein's regime to evade detection of its weapons of mass destruction programmes. The technical processing equipment on the trailer, whatever its intended purpose, should have been declared by Iraq under UN Security Council Resolution 1441. No biological or chemical warfare elements have been detected during initial investigation of the trailer, but traces of a possible decontamination agent have been found.

Detailed forensic examination continues.
