Following his statement at 0900 on 24 November, Brigadier Brunt has confirmed that:

  • Armed Forces personnel continue to respond well to the challenge of providing emergency fire cover;
  • the core capabilities continue to be provided by the BART and REST specialist rescue teams and the fleet of Green Goddesses, with a welcome additional capability provided by the small number of Red Goddesses that have been made available;
  • the Armed Forces are satisfied with the equipment provided by the Government which enables the required emergency cover to be maintained;
  • and, should a need for additional capabilities be identified, proper consideration will of course be given to how best these might be provided.
