Digital Certificates

DTI have decided to use digital certificates to assure a number of legally admissible "electronic documents" and to improve the business processes associated with the delivery of information to DTI.

DTI's intention is to introduce these techniques at minimum cost and in consultation with the oil industry. To this end DTI have been working with a small task force of oil companies and UKOOA.

A consultation document was issued on 27.11.02 The results of this were positive. DTI are running a number of PILOTS to take this forward. As a result of the PILOTS DTI propose to proceed with LIVE implementation in early 2004 DTI have issued a final set of Trust Rules. DTI are discussing with LOGIC and UKOOA the management of the Trust Rules.
