NQF and QCF

Last updated on: 11/03/2008

How will the revised National Qualifications Framework link with the Qualifications and Credit Framework?

All qualifications that are submitted by awarding bodies are now accredited against the revised National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels. The revised NQF levels will be used in the new qualifications framework, the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF). This framework is going through a test and trial process between September 2006 and July 2008.

For more information on the QCF please visit the QCF section of this website.

What are level indicators in the National Qualifications Framework?

The level indicators in the National Qualifications Framework are a guide to its range of qualifications and levels. They describe the learning and achievement that happens at each level and show how the skills and knowledge relate to job roles.

The indicators are not intended to be precise or comprehensive – they are working guides. We will continue to review and consult on them. The level indicators have been designed for use by:
• individual learners
• parents
• teachers/tutors/trainers
• careers advisers
• employers.

For more information, visit the NQF section of this website.
