David Butler OBE

 David is Chief Executive of the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations having been recruited in 1998 to restructure the charity and increase the focus on services to its then 11,000 member associations. In 1999 he was appointed a Director of the Charity's trading company NCPTA Enterprises Ltd.

David was born and educated in Newcastle Upon Tyne, studied statistics and mathematics at the University of Bath and took a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies at what is now Northumbria University. Prior to taking up his role at NCPTA he was Director of Marketing and Development at an FE college.

David's involvement with PTAs began when his wife was Chair of the PTA at the Primary School attended by their children.

David is also:

  • a Trustee of the e-Learning Foundation
  •  a member of the National Judging Panel for the Teaching Awards Trust
  • a member of the Ministerial Taskforce on Governance
  • a past member of the QCA Regulations and Standards advisory group  and of the General Teaching Council for England

David was awarded his OBE in the New Year 2008 Honours List in recognition of his contribution to education and to the community.
