The government is carrying out a major exercise to support the next stage of reform and improvement in health services.
A special consultation is focusing on what people want from community health and social care in their day-to-day lives.
Nine out of ten contacts with the NHS take place in the community. But not all services are being built around people’s needs and the Department of Health wants to hear from the public and staff to shape future services.
The consultation will cover a wide range of issues that people might want to raise on community health and social care.
These will include how services can be designed to fit the way people live their lives and how health and social care needs can be met more effectively.
Four regional events are planned in Gateshead, Leicester, London and Plymouth and these will feed into a national event in Birmingham on 29 October.
Up to 100 people will participate in the regional events and 1,000 at the national event but other people can take part in an online survey.
Special efforts are being made to involve people who are seldom heard, such as young people, travellers and the homeless.
