Judicial Appointments

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointments of The Honourable Mr Justice David Latham, Mr Honourable Justice John Kay and Mr Honourable Justice Bernard Rix as Lord Justices of Appeal.

Notes for Editors

Mr Justice Latham (57) had a common law practice at the Bar and has been a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) since 1992. His appointment will take effect from 27 March following the retirement of Lord Justice Beldam. Mr Justice Kay (56) had a common law and criminal practice on the Northern Circuit while at the Bar and has been a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) since 1992. His appointment will take effect from 2 May following the retirement of Lord Justice Stuart-Smith. Mr Justice Rix (55) was a commercial specialist at the Bar and has been a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) since 1993. His appointment will take effect from 2 May following the retirement of Lord Justice Anthony Evans.
