The Prime Minister has warned of the dangers of “financial protectionism” and insisted that the world “can come together” to deal with the current economic crisis.

Fixing the global economy depends on international cooperation and rebuilding trust in financial institutions, the Prime Minister has said in a plenary session on economic growth and jobs at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos this evening the Prime Minister has stressed the importance of governments and the private sector continuing to work together to tackle climate change, despite the current economic situation.

Gordon Brown has stressed that “now is a time for action” more than retrospection on the challenges facing the world economy and the impact of the financial crisis on jobs and businesses.
