Gordon Brown and Children’s Secretary Ed Balls visited a school in south west London this morning to see how it is sharing expertise in a bid to raise standards.

The Queen has been pleased to approve that Sir Nicholas (John) Patten be sworn of Her Majesty’s most honourable Privy Council on his appointment as a Lord Justice of Appeal.

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Reverend Canon Alan Peter Winton, BA, PhD, Team Rector of Welwyn in the diocese of St Albans, and honorary Canon pf St Albans Abbey to the Suffragan See of Thetford, in the Diocese of Norwich, in succession to the Right Reverend David John Atkinson, BSc, AKC, PhD, MLitt, MA, MSOSc, on his resignation on the 16th September 2009.
