History for Schools

Domesday Schooldays

Children from Langdon School, East Ham, recently took part in a new and exciting role-playing history workshop on the world-renowned Domesday Book. The workshop took the children back in time to 1086 where they were able to act out the parts of the commissioners, villagers of Mortlake, Putney and the Canons of St. Pauls.

Along with actors playing Canon Robert of Exeter and the Reeve of Mortlake, Surrey, the students re-enacted the second stage of the inquests that went into the making of the Domesday Book. Click Here to learn more about Education Services at Kew.

Elizabeth

Poets and playwrights of the day heralded her as "Gloriana", "Good Queen Bess" and "The Virgin Queen", The PRO is hosting a series of events and an exhibition to celebrate a queen which some consider the greatest monarch.
