Wall:
The cartoonist has drawn Churchill with his back up against the wall. The cartoon was drawn in 1940. Nazi Germany had defeated France and British troops had to evacuate from Dunkirk. A German invasion of Britain looked likely. Therefore, the cartoon seems to be indicating that the thing separating Britain from invasion, was Churchill's determination to stand and fight.
