Local Authority & Emergency Services Information (LAESI) 4th Edition - Defence Nuclear Materials Transport Contingency Arrangements

The purpose of this document is to provide the Emergency Services (Police, Coastguard, Fire and Ambulance), Local and Health Authorities with information on contingency arrangements for the transport of nuclear weapons, special nuclear material (SNM) and new and used submarine reactor fuel.

It has been prepared by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to give information on actions in the very unlikely event of an accident during the transportation of these materials. Throughout this document nuclear weapons, SNM and new and used reactor fuel are referred to collectively as Defence Nuclear Materials.
