Pensions Calculator

Introduction

Welcome to the Armed Forces Pensions Calculator, which now has the majority of the pay rates and pension codes loaded.  Senior officer and medical and dental officer rates will be uploaded when they become available.

The first question you will be asked on the calculator screen is which pension scheme you belong to. It will then take you through a set of questions which relate to the pension scheme you specify. By following a series of questions, and using drop-down menus, the calculator will give you a forecast of benefits relevant to the scheme you specified. Please ensure you read the notes on the screen as it will set out the assumptions that are made with your selections. The forecast does not include transfers in from another pension scheme or the value of any added years contracts you may have.

Who may use the Armed Forces Pensions Calculator?

The calculator gives a forecast of benefits for members of AFPS 75 or AFPS 05 excluding MPGS and Gurkhas with service credits. The MPGS were excluded because it would have been too complicated to include all the different circumstances which might apply to this group. MPGS personnel should contact SPVA if they require a forecast of benefits.

Serving Gurkha Pension Calculator

This Gurkha calculator gives a forecast of benefits for members of AFPS 75 or AFPS 05 who transferred as part of the serving Gurkha Offer To Transfer (GOTT).  All officers, and soldiers who joined as part of the 1993 intake and earlier, were given a service credit.  This calculator will adjust the pensionable service to take into account any service credit received.

How the Armed Forces Pensions Calculator works

Once into the calculator, you will be faced with a disclaimer that you must accept before you will be able to proceed. The calculator will allow you to input your details to provide a forecast of your pension benefits on your current engagement or, alternatively, you can input details to show a forecast of benefits if you were promoted, or served longer.

Points to Note for the Armed Forces Pensions Calculator

The information given is for guidance only and does not constitute an entitlement to the benefits stated.

  • The calculator does not take into account future pay or inflation rises and so the figures it produces will not be the same as any future pension benefits you might receive.
  • The calculator does not show any dependants’ benefits. Details are in the pension scheme booklets on this website.

For AFPS 75 members:

  • the calculator assumes that the leaving rank you use is your substantive rank and you have held this rank for at least two years. For the rules on pension benefits and substantive rank, please speak to your unit administrative staff.
  • The calculator does not take into account any Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) that may be been paid to improve benefits.
  • The calculator does not forecast life commutation.

Difficulties accessing the Armed Forces Pensions Calculator

If you experience difficulty accessing the calculator it may be due to the browser settings on your computer or the firewall set-up of the system you are using as a gateway. If possible, try to access the calculator from another machine or system. If using a MOD PC at work and you are having problems you should contact your local IT Helpdesk in the first instance.

Who do I contact for help?
