Our Vision"The Defence Dental Services (DDS) will be a progressive and inclusive organisation within the managed military health system.

The DDS is committed to training and developing its people to provide an effective deployed and non-deployed primary dental service to entitled patients."

The DDS is an organisation which is made up of four Services - Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Civil Service.

The Headquarters of the Defence Dental Services is based at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire.

The Military Dental staff are employed and located all over the world and Civilian staff work along side Military personnel in UK, Cyprus and Germany.

The Defence Dental Services is headed by a Director (currently held by Brigadier I Pretsell Royal Army Dental Corps), and consists of two directorates, Policy, Plans and Resources (PPR) and Clinical Services (CS). It is supported by a Chief of Staff (COS) and his Support staff.

Recruitment

The Defence Dental Services (DDS) are an organization within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) employing approximately 1085 personnel from the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and civilian sector who are trained Dentists, Therapists, Hygienists, Technicians or Dental Nurses.

We have dental centres throughout the UK and various locations overseas. We always welcome enquiries from Dentists, Hygienists and Dental Nurses who are interested in joining our teams in one of our many locations.

The benefits of being a civilian employee within the DDS include the right to join a premium or partnership pension scheme or if analogue grade the NHS pension scheme.

Further benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement plus public and privilege holidays, travel and subsistence costs, transfer costs when transferring post and various overseas allowances for overseas posts.
