MoD Chief Scientific Adviser – Professor Sir Roy Anderson FRS

Brief History

The science|innovation|technology TLB was formed in 2004 to provide expert advice and technological solutions to the demands of Defence.

Professor Sir Roy Anderson FRS is the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) who is responsible for the research budget.
 
His role is to ensure MOD has access to sound technical advice and technology to support military operations and future strategic capabilities. 

  • supporting the MoD equipment programme;
  • supporting the nuclear deterrent;
  • providing operational analysis to support operations;
  • chemical, biological, radiological, & nuclear (CBRN) matters;
  • missile defence issues and policy;
  • the analysis and management of defence related scientific risk;
  • bringing objective analysis to the Departments' investment programme
