Freedom of Information

FOI came into force 1st January 2005 revolutionising the public's access to information held by any public sector body.

Recorded information held by public authorities on any topic irrespective of the information's age, can be requested.

Some information is exempt from public disclosure, but most categories of exemption are subject to case by case public interest testing - where the presumption is towards disclosure.

Most information will be provided within 20 working days.

Publication Scheme

The Act requires each public authority to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme. This is, in effect, a catalogue of information that is available to the public. The MDP scheme forms part of the wider MOD Publication Scheme.

To view all MDP documents on the FOI Publication Scheme click on the link below, in keywords type MDP and then click the search button.
