Business & Commercial

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is the UK manufacturing industry's biggest customer with an annual procurement spend of approximately £12bn. We buy everything from military equipment to food, stores and clothing.

If your company would like to do business with the Ministry of Defence, read on...

The Commercial Organisation There are around 1,800 buyers within the MoD's Commercial Organisation who are committed to purchasing high quality goods and services at the most economic prices and best value for money terms.

We take very seriously our responsibilities to the taxpayer and as such have laid down set procedures which must be followed by commercial officers to secure best value for money. In parallel with the Commercial Organisation, the Commercial Services Group (CSG) main function is to help spread best commercial practice through MoD and the defence industry.

The acquisition conditions developed by the Commercial Services Group (CSG) take the form of Defence Conditions (DEFCONS) which, along with Defence Forms (DEFFORMS) are available in the Commercial Managers Toolkit (CMT) which can be accessed on-line at www.dgcom.mod.uk

The Commercial Organisation also publishes Guidelines for Industry and Partnering arrangements between the MoD and its suppliers, which are also available on-line at www.dgcom.mod.uk

Further information is available from the Defence Suppliers Service (DSS) - the DSS is part of the MoD’s Commercial Services Group (CSG) and its primary role is to act as a corporate focal point across MoD to provide advice and assistance to companies interested in becoming defence suppliers. Any enquiries should be emailed to csg-help-desk@dpa.mod.uk
