The Acquisition Safety and Environmental Support Group
The Acquisition Safety and Environmental Support Group launched on the 4th April 2005. ASESG provide the systems and expertise to ensure that the MOD's performance requirements for safety and environmental management in Acquisition are being met.
ASESG are a multi skilled team of safety and environmental specialists located across the UK, with staff at Andover, Bristol, Yeovilton and Wyton. We are supported by specialist consultants and contractors and have access to key individuals in other Government Departments, and industry, who have delegated responsibilities for safety and environmental management on behalf of equipment IPTs.
The ASESG is a key element of the new Technical Enabling Services Group (TES) that has resulted from the Joint Working Initiative between the DPA and the DLO. The ASESG comprises two sections: Corporate Support and Project Support. The ASESG staff who constitute these divisions are also often 'Subject Matter Experts' in their own right and can provide technical advice within their specialism to all IPT's. The activities of this group will provide, through Technical Director DPA, assurance to CDP and CDL that the work undertaken by IPT's within the DPA and DLO meets the organizations' obligations for safety and environmental management of its Acquisition activities.
The Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS)
ASESG publish the Acquisition Safety and Environmental Managment Systems which comprise the POEMS and POSMS procedures. These form the mandated requirement for all IPT's safety and environmental management. These procedures are available from the AMS at the following link:
