THE QUEEN’S GOLDEN JUBILEE MEDAL
Her Majesty the Queen has been graciously pleased to approve the institution of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for members of the Armed Forces to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Her Accession on 6 February 2002.
In principal a service personnel must have been in effective service on 6 February 2002 and have had five years full time service prior to this.
A summary of the categories of personnel who qualify for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal is as follows:
Regular Forces
All service personnel who were in effective service on Wednesday 6 February 2002 and had completed 1826 days (5 full calendar years) service, and were properly enlisted (not just attested) on or prior to 7 February 1997.
Volunteer Reserves Forces
All personnel who were in effective military service with the Volunteer Reserve Forces on 6 February 2002 and have completed five annual bounty earning training years, and were properly enlisted (not attested) on or prior to 7 February 1997.
Non Regular Permanent staff (NRPS)
NRPS personnel are eligible for the medal and are to qualify under the same eligibility criteria as outlined for the Regular Forces.
Members of the Volunteer Reserve Forces who undertake full time Reserve Service (FTRS)
Additional Duties Commitment (ADC) or other mobilised service, are able to count a minimum of 90 days service in any one training year as one of the five annual bounty earning training years qualifying service.
Regular Reserves
Any member of the Regular Reserves who is in effective military service on 6 February 2002 will be eligible for the medal if their aggregated Regular service and / or Volunteer effective service amounts to five years qualifying service as defined for the Regular Forces.
Cadet Officers and Cadet Instructors
Personnel must be in effective service on 6 February 2002 and be in an established post, and have started on or before 7 February 1997. A total of five training years is required. Regular service counts towards qualification.
