As part of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, three battalions united by the red and white Hackle we wear, and more than three hundred years of service to the country, we play a key part as custodian of specialised light infantry skills like operating in complex terrain such as jungle, mountains and urban environments, and in operations such as peace enforcement, and reform of the armed forces of other nations.
Currently Second Fusiliers are based in Cyprus where we are ideally placed to remain acclimatised and ready for short notice operations within the Middle East, Afghanistan and other hot climes.
Second Fusiliers have had a busy period in 2006 which illustrates the variety of experience which Fusiliers expect to receive. As a list this may seem pretty daunting, but I have been tremendously proud of the achievements of the battalion this year, switching focus without a blink from one task to another, often overlapping, commitment.
