The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) is a compensation scheme for all members of the Regular and Reserve Forces. The Scheme provides compensation for all injuries, ill-health and deaths that are mainly due (attributable) to service, the main cause of which occurred on or after the introduction of the Scheme on 6 April 2005.
REVIEW OF THE AFCS
The Review found that whilst the Scheme is fundamentally sound, adjustments are necessary in some areas. All changes recommended from the review will be implemented by February 2011. It has however been possible to implement some changes more quickly and these will come into effect on 3 August 2010.
