Pensions Team
The Pensions Team is responsible for development and maintainance the 1975 and 2005 Armed Forces Pension Schemes and the Reserve Forces Pension Scheme. The team also manages policy on other minor pension schemes including Non Regular Permanent Staff, Gibraltar and Gurkha pension issues. Specific policy responsibilities include:
- Co-ordination of SCAPE (Superannuation Contribution Adjusted for Past Experience)
- Directed Early Retirement
- Increasing benefits
- Pensions on Divorce
- Pensions Supplements
- Transfers
Compensation Team
The Compensation Team is responsible for the development and maintenance of policies relating to a number of compensation schemes. Specific policy responsibilities include:
- Armed Forces Compensation Scheme including changes being implemented as a result of the 2010 review
- War Pension Scheme
- Armed Forces Pension Attributable Benefits Scheme
- Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) Scheme
Veterans Team
The Veterans Team is responsible for ensuring that former service in the Armed Forces is recognised, appreciated and valued by both the Government and general public. The team develops, evaluates and reviews policies, which:
- Raise awareness of the role of veterans and their contribution to society, through Armed Forces Day, the provision of HM Armed Forces and UK Merchant Seafarers Veterans lapel badges, and the Veterans Challenge Fund
- Support the commemoration of Armed Forces personnel who die while in Service, including the MOD policy on memorials
- Support others, including the Office of the Civil Society, other Government Departments, Devolved Administrations, Local Authorities, ex Service organisations and charities
- Develop initiatives aimed at supporting veterans in the criminal justice system and those who are homeless
- Addresses policy in relation to legacy health issues including nuclear test veterans, Porton Down test veterans, Gulf veterans illnesses, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans health
