The Defence Vetting Agency is looking for a number of Vetting Officers (MoD Payband C2) to conduct security vetting interviews and other inquiries on behalf of the Agency.
Vetting Officers work from home and applicants must live within the specified location.
The posts are permanent and full time, but part-time working will be considered providing full-time cover can be achieved overall in the location.
The Vetting process is designed to establish the suitability of a range of personnel in the Armed Forces, MOD and other Government Departments to have access to highly sensitive information.
The work involves regular travel and interviewing both within official establishments and private homes. Applicants must hold a full clean driving licence and be prepared to use their own car on local journeys, for which mileage allowance will be paid. Duties may include travel to other locations across the UK, necessitating overnight stays. The Vetting Officer is a mobile grade and may be required to work anywhere in the UK.

- Starting salary £21,320 per annum on an incremental, with the opportunity to earn performance bonuses.

Eligibility: Applicants must as a minimum:
- Be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of well-developed interviewing and investigative/analytical skills including at least 3 years practical experience of in-depth interviewing across a broad range of society.
- Be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of report writing from notes.
- Possess IT skills including the operation of MS Word or equivalent and use of e-mail/Internet.
Applicants who do not provide evidence of these criteria in their applications will be disadvantaged at the sift stage. Knowledge and/or experience of personnel security issues would be desirable but comprehensive training will be provided. These are “Reserved” posts and applicants must be UK Nationals who have lived in the UK for the last 10 years (although a waiver of the full 10 years is possible in certain circumstances). Successful candidates must be willing to undergo the Developed Vetting Clearance process before a final offer of appointment can be made, which may take some time.

London Weighting: London Weighting (£2,200 inner London, £1,200 outer London) will be added to the stated salary.
