Defence Intelligence

Organisation

The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), a serving three-star military officer, is responsible for the overall coordination of defence intelligence throughout the Armed Forces and single-Service commands. This function requires strategic guidance to be produced on the management of all defence intelligence assets, including those used to support military operations.

CDI is supported by a Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence, who is responsible for Intelligence Production, and a Director-General of Intelligence Collection. There are also some corporate directorates that report directly to CDI.
