In order to reflect MOD developments and future aspirations, JARIC will no longer be spelt out in full and will instead be known as JARIC - The National Imagery Exploitation Centre. The organisation exploits and analyses imagery from all available sources and produce Intelligence to meet the requirements of MOD, Government Departments and the Operational Commands.

Mission

To exploit and analyse imagery from all available sources and produce Intelligence to meet the requirements of MOD, Government Departments and the Operational Commands

Role

JARIC is part of Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) within the Defence Intelligence Staff. In meeting its primary role in supporting Defence planning, current operations and the Intelligence assessment process, JARIC is tasked to:

  • Produce IMINT support at the strategic and Operational level
  • Produce illustrated graphics to support operational planning and current operations, including the precision application of air power
  • Make available trained, experienced military personnel of all ranks to support command level staffs and other military units engaged in military operations
  • Hold and maintain the UK’s national aerial archive and reproduce imagery to support planning, security exercises and other training by military units worldwide

    Staff

    JARIC is a joint military and civilian organisation under the command of a Group Captain of the RAF Operations Support Branch. All 500 of its personnel are employed on one site at RAF Brampton. The Unit comprises of:
