The
European Mobility Week
is an awareness raising campaign aiming at sensibilising citizens to the use of
public transport, cycling, walking
and at encouraging European cities to promote these modes of transport and to invest in the new necessary infrastructures.
From
16 to 22 September 2011
the Mobility Week is the opportunity for European cities and towns to participate to the most widespread event on sustainable mobility.

Ten years of European Mobility Week 2002-2011 brochure

Ten years ago, the European Commission invited municipalities across the EU to take action against the threat of climate change and to improve the quality of life for citizens by making cities more pleasant places to live in. This brochure focuses on 22 cities which have featured in the Mobility Week awards in the last ten years.

organises on Thursday 22 September in Brussels Smart2Wheels. This twofold event is aimed at making European policymakers better aware of the potential of bicycles and electric 2Wheels to make urban mobility more sustainable.

Almada wins European Mobility Week Award 2010

The Portuguese city of Almada has won the 2010 European Mobility Week Award. Almada was judged by an independent panel of mobility experts to have done the most to promote alternatives to the car, and to highlight the positive impact of other means of transport on public health and the environment during European Mobility Week 2010. Murcia in Spain and the Latvian capital Riga were runners-up. The awards were presented by Environment Commissioner Janez Potočnik at a ceremony in Brussels on 14 March 2011.
