Security in the capital remains at a high level and under constant review. At the moment, there is no specific intelligence of places, events or people in the UK that would lead us to issue specific warnings to the public.
We want to reassure Londoners that your safety is our primary concern and the MPS and other agencies regularly assess security measures.
While our message is still 'alert not alarm', we continue to urge both the public and the business community to remain vigilant at all times and to report anything suspicious or unusual to police.
For more information on the current threat level, visit www.homeoffice.gov.uk.
Anyone with information on or suspicions about terrorist-related activity should contact the confidential Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321.
All calls to the Hotline are treated in the strictest of confidence and all information received is thoroughly researched and investigated before any police action is considered.
In an emergency, always dial 999.
The MPS has set up a team of officers to investigate incidents in which suspect packages and other incidents are being identified as hoaxes. The team consists of officers from the Specialist Crime Directorate who work closely with the Crown Prosecution Service and the Counter Terorrism Command.
