The National Offender Management Service asked for advice and comments on a third sector action plan.
The aim of the consultation was to strengthen the contribution of the third sector to protecting the public and reducing reoffending, particularly in relation to the role of providers, advocates and campaigners within the sector.

Responses
There were 51 written responses to the consultation, and over 200 people took part in the national consultation events held in York, London and Wales and led by voluntary organisation Clinks. In addition, over 100 people attended a variety of events in which responses were considered as part of the consultation.
The responses informed the third sector paper, 'Working with the third sector to reduce reoffending 2008-11'.
