Senior Salaries Review Body: annual written evidence 2007

This letter to the senior salaries review body gives our view on the appropriate rate of pay increase for judges for 2008 to 2009.  This is supported by information on judicial recruitment and other relevant factors.

The letter covers recruitment and retention, judicial motivation and morale, appropriate levels of award and affordability. The annexes cover further information on major initiatives, judicial appointments 2006/07, statistical information, motivation and morale, and an analysis of judges' trials in the Crown Court 2000 to 2006.
