Open date: 30 January 2007

Close date: 25 April 2007

Responses published: 18 March 2008

Consultation paper

This consultation document sets out the options for the future regulation of enforcement agents and gives a clear indication of our preference of regulation by the Security Industry Authority. The document seeks views on the evidence presented on all the options.

Responses

The government received more than 400 responses to the consultation paper, of which 52 responded on the proposed options for the statutory regulation of enforcement agents. There was overwhelming agreement among the 52 that there was still a need for statutory regulation. The government proposes to proceed with the regulation of enforcement agents by the Security Industry Authority.
