The annual report for 2007/08 summarises the work of the Correctional Services Accreditation Panel in its ninth year.
The Panel's main work is to accredit programmes for offenders which are designed to reduce reoffending. The report provides details of the expenditure during the year and a schedule of all programmes currently accredited or recognised.
During the year, the Panel considered a number of applications from the Prison Service, the National Offender Management Service as well as external and third party providers for accreditation, guidance or review. The Panel also continued to provide advice on audit issues, as well as advice and guidance on programmes under development and issues related to drug treatment, psychometrics and accredited programmes.
The Panel spent some time discussing its future status, following the decision to bring the accreditation process in-house from 1 May 2008. It also assisted the NOMS Effective Intervention Board on the strategic development of effective interventions.
