Joint Criminal Justice Area Inspections
HMI Probation participates with other criminal justice inspectorates in the joint inspections of criminal justice areas.
The focus of the six joint inspections in 2005/2006 was on the ‘front-end’ of the criminal justice process from arrest to passing of sentence, ie criminal case management. For 2006/2007, the inspections are, additionally, including an inspection of the enforcement of community penalties, which HMI Probation are leading.
In the last 24 months reports have been published of the joint inspections of the Lancashire, Dorset, West Midlands, Devon & Cornwall and Cleveland criminal justice areas.
