Biography

John Lyon became Director-General Legal and Judicial Services and Secretary of Commissions at the Ministry of Justice on 9 May 2007. He was appointed to this post at the Department for Constitutional Affairs on 17 February 2003.

He worked in the Cabinet Office in various posts 1969-78 and in home and social affairs 1978-80. He worked in the Home Office in various posts 1980-94, as director of criminal justice 1994-98, as director of sentencing and correctional policy in 1998, director of police policy 1999  - 2000, and director general of the policing and crime reduction group 2000-03.
